Who is this course for?

Suitable for retail showroom staff, building surveyors, building control officers and architects, wanting to develop their knowledge of biomass and solid fuels to remain updated with all current Building Regulations and standards.

What are the aims of this course?

The course aims to offer information on the regulations, standards, legislation, appliance sizing and pre-installation survey considerations. This course provides a route for retailers to gain the criteria necessary to join the HETAS Approved Retailer scheme.

What are the prerequisites?

Applicants to the H002 must have first completed and have certification of HETAS H001 or have experience in the solid fuel industry, or construction-related profession.

What subjects will this course cover?

The course includes the following topics:

  • The makeup of a wide variety of solid wood and mineral fuels
  • The concepts of heating with solid fuel, wood and biomass
  • Regional variation of Building Regulations
  • Distinguishing between different types of appliance chimneys, flues and terminals
  • Ascertaining which appliance is suitable for which installation
  • Air supply and ventilation

What assessments are involved?

The course will conclude with a theory assessment based on the information provided throughout this one day assessment.

All training manuals, technical handbooks and certification fees are included in the course fee.

What HETAS status do I receive?

Successful completion of this course is certificated by HETAS and provides route to application for registration as a HETAS Approved Retailer.
