Who is this course for?

Candidates with plumbing or heating qualifications, existing solid fuel installers or those who have already completed the H003 course and wish to extend heating and plumbing experience, as well as build on skills learnt in H003, are ideal applicants for the H004 course.

What are the aims of this course?

Focusing on wet appliances and the technology behind them, candidates will gain competence in the installation of stoves with boilers on the nationally recognised HETAS H004 training course.

What subjects will this course cover?

The course includes the following topics:

  • Wet system design and specification
  • Discussions on the advancements in technology
  • The installation of solid fuel appliances with boilers incorporating vented systems
  • The principles of gravity circulation
  • System controls
  • Integration with other types of wet heating systems
  • Heating system commissioning handover
  • Service & maintenance

What are the prerequisites?

Candidates must have previously completed the HETAS H003 course and have at least one of the following:

  • Evidence of OFTEC 101 or 102.
  • Evidence of Gas Safe Registration – CCN1 & CEN1.
  • Evidence of formal plumbing and heating qualification i.e City & Guilds 6129 and 6089, or QCF 6189; or other suitable award.
  • Evidence of equivalent work experience on wet heating systems.
  • N/SVQ Level 2/3 in Plumbing or equivalent earlier certification that provides evidence of competence.

What assessments are involved?

The H004 course will conclude with a theory assessment based on the information provided throughout this two day course.

What do I need for this course?

All training manuals, technical handbooks and certification fees are included in the course fee.

What HETAS status do I receive?

Successful completion of this course is certificated by HETAS and provides a Wet Installer Competency award, under the HETAS Competent Person Scheme (CPS). It also provides a route to application for registration as a HETAS Approved Chimney Sweep or /and Registered Installer (CPS).
