Building Regulations for Electrical Installations in Dwellings

Who is this course for?

Aimed at experienced electricians already operating within the building sector, the course will help candidates to demonstrate knowledge of Building Regulations for electrical installations in dwellings in England and Wales.

What are the aims of this course?

The course aims to provide attendees with the latest knowledge of UK Building Regulations and the skills needed to comply with current legal requirements including how electrical installations in dwellings can affect the building construction.

What are the prerequisites?

Those taking the course must be experienced electricians or those qualified or qualified individuals in an allied trade within England and Wales only.

What subjects will the course cover?

Covering the necessary building regulations which the domestic tradesperson will need to comply with, candidates will be trained and assessed in the following subject areas:

  • Parts A, B, E, F, L, M and P of the Building regulations 2010
  • Purpose of regulations
  • Enforcement of regulations
  • Requirements of the contractor

What assessments are involved?

Attendees will be expected to sit a 20 question multiple-choice online examination, externally set by City & Guilds. The exam will last 40 minutes.

What do I need for this course?

Candidates are expected to bring their own IET Requirements for Electrical Installations BS7671:2008 Amendment 3 (2015). All training manuals, technical handbooks and certification fees are included in the course fee. For the candidate application and registration process you will need your National Insurance number and a passport sized photograph.

What status do I receive if I pass the course?

Upon completing the two day course, candidates will be awarded a City & Guilds Level 3 certificate in understanding of UK Building Regulation.
