The HETAS H008 Dry Pellet Stove Installer course is aimed at dry appliance installers, already carrying a H003 certificate, who wish to expand their knowledge to include the installation and operation of automatic dry pellet appliances.

What are the aims of this course?

The course is aimed at businesses who wish to offer end-users an alternative to traditional dry solid fuel installations such as word burning or multi-fuel stoves. Pellet stoves can offer users higher efficiencies as well as being easy to start, thermostatically controlled and programmable for easy operation. The HETAS H008 course aims to establish the benefits of pellet stoves available to end-users as well as understanding the fundamentals of operation and installation.

What are the prerequisites?

In order to progress to H008, candidates must have completed one of the following HETAS courses:

• H003DS

• H003

What subject areas will this course cover?

The course includes the following topics:

• Operating principles of automated pellet stoves

• Specification of pellet stoves and system design

• Pellet stove selection and advising end-users

• Installation and commissioning of dry pellet stove appliances

• Handover, service and maintenance of pellet stoves

What assessments are involved?

The course will incorporate both a practical assessment and a multiple choice exam.

What do I need for this course?

All training manuals, technical handbooks and certification fees are included in the course fee. For the candidate application and registration process you will need your National Insurance number and a passport sized photograph.

What status do I receive if I pass the course?

Following successful completion of the course, a training certificate will be awarded enabling the candidate to apply for registration with HETAS on the competent person scheme for the dry pellet stove installation.
