1 DAY COURSE – THEORY & PRACTICAL ASSESSMENT

The HETAS H006 System Chimney course aims to provide training for the installation of twin wall rigid system chimneys in residential properties. The course is ideally suited to candidates who have successfully completed the H003DS Dry Appliance Installer or H005DE Biomass Installer courses who wish to gain a better understanding of twin wall system chimneys.

What are the aims of this course?

This course is designed to enhance the knowledge and range of competencies for qualified solid fuel installers. The course will discuss system components, good installation practice in relation to the various elements of a residential structure and the Building Regulations involved – i.e. passing through walls, floors, ceilings and roof spaces as well as terminal location.

What are the prerequisites?

In order to progress to H006, candidates must have completed one of the following HETAS courses:

• H003DS

• H003

• H005DE

What subject areas will this course cover?

The HETAS H006 System Chimneys course will cover the following topics:

• Operating principles of chimneys, flues and terminals

• Design principles of metal twin wall system chimneys for internal/external applications

• Installation requirements for metal twin wall system chimneys and connection flue pipes

• Key legislative requirements/industry standards relating to the installation and testing of metal twin wall system chimneys

• System components & good installation practice in relation to the various elements of a residential structure

What assessments are involved?

The course will incorporate classroom based learning, practical assessments and a multiple choice exam.

What do I need for this course?

All training manuals, technical handbooks and certification fees are included in the course fee. For the candidate application and registration process you will need your National Insurance number and a passport sized photograph.

What status do I receive if I pass the course?

Following successful completion of the course, a training certificate will be awarded enabling the candidate to apply for registration with HETAS on the competent person scheme for the installation and testing of prefabricated twin wall insulated chimney systems.
