What are the aims of this course?

This one day course aims to ensure that approved retailers have adequately trained staff available for customers, who offer advice on appliances, maintenance, carbon monoxide safety, fuels and government regulations.

What are the prerequisites?

There are no prerequisites for this course as this is the introductory route to enable further progression throughout the HETAS course portfolio.

What subjects will the course cover?

The course includes the following topics:

• Introduction to solid fuel appliances and how they work
• Stove and appliance maintenance
• Carbon monoxide – the risks and safety
• Government Regulations
• Appropriate fuels for various appliances

What assessments are involved?

This course is theory based consisting of a multiple choice exam and desk based activity based on information provided and discussed throughout the session.

What do I need for this course?

All course material will be provided for you. For the candidate application and registration process you will need your National Insurance number and a passport sized photograph.

What status do I receive if I pass the course?

Successful completion of this course is certificated by HETAS and trainees leave with a HETAS Approved Retailer certificate. The Successful candidate can apply to join the HETAS Approved Retailer scheme which provides access to all HETAS marketing and support materials.
