Who is this course for?

Waxman solar PV courses provide individuals and companies experienced in the design and installation of single phase circuits the opportunity to expand their remit and offer renewable energy solutions to their clients. The new QCF Level 3 award from LOGIC Certification is a nationally recognised qualification in the installation and maintenance of small scale grid tied solar photovoltaic systems. This qualification is based on the National Occupational Standards as published by industry and is recognised by the Microgeneration Certification Scheme registration bodies as an acceptable qualification to join the scheme.

What are the prerequisites?

Any learner wishing to undertake this qualification should hold a Level 3 electrotechnical NVQ qualification or similar. Candidates attending this course should be qualified electricians experienced in designing, installing and testing domestic single phase circuits as per BS7671:2008 standards and safety regulations. It is essential that trainees hold a qualification that demonstrates their knowledge and understanding of 17th Edition Wiring Regulations and Part P Building Regulations.

What are the aims of this course?

From solar photovoltaic principles to system commissioning, candidates will cover all aspects of grid connected solar PV technology. Trainees will learn about current Government incentives and targets within the PV market as well as interacting with a range of products, installation material, testing equipment and working models.

The QCF Level 3 award and the individual unit credit gained from this course provide a clear insight into your technical ability for potential clients, employers and registration bodies within the industry.

Waxman solar PV courses cover the legislative considerations, risk assessment and regulations for working at heights but does not cover roof or access work in detail. Candidates will have the opportunity to work on roof rigs during the course but installers who are inexperienced in roof work are advised to undertake a recognised certificate in working at heights and/or consult with qualified roofers.

What assessments are involved?

Assessment is carried out via practical evaluation, written assignment and multiple choice exam. The assessments are open book, incorporating applicable standards and regulations.

What do I need for this course?

A text book is supplied as part of the course.

Trainees attending the installer course should bring evidence of their relevant qualifications and certificates to show the assessor.

All candidates are required to bring two passport size photographs for the certification process. Safety footwear and overalls are also advisable.
