Who is this course for?

The City & Guilds 2382-18 qualification is primarily aimed at practicing electricians with relevant experience and other allied professionals (surveyors, consultants etc) needing to update and enhance their understanding of IET Wiring Regulations (BS7671) in line with the release of 18th Edition. Alternatively, this qualification is ideal for newly qualified electricians who require certification regarding the new regulations which will come into effect on 1st January 2019.

What are the aims of this course?

The IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) are the definitive standards for the electrical industry in respect of safe use and operation of electrical equipment and systems. The 18th Edition update course provides the latest standards by which all operatives in electrotechnical industries must adhere in terms of designing, erecting, inspecting and testing electrical installations.

What are the prerequisites?

There are no formal entry requirements for candidates undertaking this qualification. However, it is expected that candidates will have basic knowledge of electrical science and installation practices.

What subjects will the course cover?

Candidates will be trained and assessed in the following subject areas:

  • Scope, object and fundamental principles of BS7671
  • Definitions used within BS7671
  • General characteristics of electrical installations
  • Protection for safety of electrical installations
  • Selection of equipment for electrical installations
  • Inspection and testing of electrical installations
  • Special installations and locations as per BS7671
  • Installation and replacement of electrical components

What assessments are involved?

The City & Guilds 2382-18 course is assessed via a sixty question multiple choice online examination which has a time limit of 2 hours.

What do I need for this course?

Candidates are expected to bring their own copies of the following standards:

  • IET Requirements for Electrical Installations BS7671:2018
  • IET Onsite Guide BS7671:2018
  • IET Guidance Note 3

These items should be bought in advance; however, copies will be available for purchase at the start of the course from Waxman Training Academy.

All certification fees are included in the course fee. For the candidate application and registration process, you will need your National Insurance number and a passport sized photograph.

What status do I receive if I pass the course?

Upon completing this 3 day course, successful candidates will be awarded a City & Guilds 2382 Level 3 Award in Requirements for Electrical Installations BS7671: 2018.
