Who is this course for?

The Domestic Electrical Installer course from LOGIC Certification is aimed at professionals who carry out electrical work as a secondary task such as heating installers, builders and domestic appliance fitters who are looking to gain a recognised qualification to up-skill and carry out domestic electrical work as a stand-alone task.

What are the aims of this course?

Over 5 days, the course will offer candidates the chance to gain the knowledge and experience to competently carry out domestic electrical installations in line with nationally recognised standards such as Part P Building Regulation and BS7671:2008 (2015) 17th Edition Wiring Regulations.

What are the prerequisites?

Candidates wishing to undertake the LOGIC DEI course must have at least 2 years of appropriate, demonstrable experience in electrical installation work; information provided will be assessed and verified prior to the start of the course.

PLEASE NOTE: This qualification is not designed to progress non-qualified or candidates from non-electrical backgrounds and make them into electricians.

What subjects will the course cover?

Candidates will be trained and assessed in the following subject areas:

  • Electrical safety legislation regulations, standards and terminology
  • Identification of unsafe electrical situations and safe isolation procedures
  • Earthing and bonding requirements
  • Electrical test procedures
  • Installation and replacement of electrical components
  • Recording of electrical test results, completion and certification requirements
  • Domestic lighting circuits, SELV
  • 3 Phase supplies
  • Maintaining domestic electrical installations

What assessments are involved?

Assessment is conducted using a variety of methods including; multiple choice exams, short written response and scenario questioning as well as observed practical tasks.

What do I need for this course?

Candidates will not be required to bring any materials with them for this course. All test equipment will be provided as part of the course. Candidates who wish to bring their own test equipment can do so provided they can supply an up to date calibration certificate.

All certification fees are included in the course fee. For the candidate application and registration process, you will need your National Insurance number and a passport sized photograph.

What status do I receive if I pass the course?

Upon completing this 5 day course, candidates will be awarded a Level 2 Domestic Electrical Installer – Full Scope qualification from LOGIC Certification. This can be used, in conjunction with other prerequisites, to help installers apply to various CPS schemes for electrical work to enable self-certification of domestic installations.
